About the Client
NEXT Food Expo is a new B2B event for food and hospitality professionals in Western Canada. Based in Calgary, the expo reintroduces a long-missing industry event to the region, aiming to bring innovative experiences, modern thinking, and community connection to a growing market.
The project came to The Branding Architects through SF Creative Culinary Services Inc., who entrusted us to lead the expo’s visual communication and brand experience.
The Challenge
Launching with only a logo and a tight four-month timeline, the expo needed a complete visual identity system that felt professional, modern, and distinctive. The challenge was to create a cohesive brand that would stand out from established Canadian food expos while signaling innovation, credibility, and excitement for a first-year event.
Our Approach
Inspired by museum-style visual systems and cultural exhibitions, we shaped a bold, modular identity built on modern typography, energetic colour, and adaptable layouts.
Key deliverables included:
- Social media templates
- Posters, print ads, and promotional materials
- Environmental signage and stage concepts
- Step-and-repeat walls and meeting pod graphics
- A 20-page program guide and event collateral
The result was a cohesive, vibrant visual experience that brought the expo to life across digital and physical spaces.
The Transformation
NEXT evolved from a basic logo into a fully realized event brand. The new identity delivered clarity, consistency, and a premium experience that surprised attendees and exhibitors alike—many couldn’t believe it was the expo’s first year.
Impact
NEXT exceeded attendance expectations, received overwhelmingly positive feedback, and gained strong exhibitor interest for the next year. The branding established the expo as a modern, credible, and innovative force in Western Canada’s food and hospitality industry.
